New Fire Notification System: Turning Alerts Into Opportunities to Help

We’re rolling out a new notification system that will alert us when a structure fire is reported in a CRS coverage area. It’s still being tested, but it has real potential to help every CRS location find more opportunities to serve homeowners and build stronger partnerships.

Let’s Be Clear About the “Why”

This isn’t about chasing fires. It’s about helping people, supporting our communities, and building relationships.

A fire is one of the worst days in a homeowner’s life. These alerts give us a chance to show up early, lead with compassion, and be genuinely useful, whether or not it turns into a job.

How These Alerts Can Help You

When you get an alert, it may help you:

  • Connect with homeowners who need support
  • Help a restoration partner win the restoration work
  • Identify the restoration company, adjuster, carrier, or TPA involved
  • Build relationships with new referral partners
  • Strengthen existing partnerships
  • Better understand fire activity in your market

The Timeline Won’t Always Be Immediate

Reporting won’t always come in right away or complete. Depending on the source, it may take days — or even weeks — before we get detailed information.

That doesn’t mean the opportunity has passed. Adjusters may still be evaluating the loss, contractors may still be getting selected, and contents decisions may not be final yet.

Before You Act, Ask Yourself

  • Do I have a restoration partner who could benefit from this information?
  • Who is already involved in the loss?
  • Is there an adjuster, contractor, or claims professional I should meet?
  • Is there still an opportunity to earn the contents work?
  • If the job’s already assigned, how can I build a relationship for the next loss?

Don’t Forget Your Local Fire Department

Build a strong relationship with your local fire department. Some of our best operators provide laundry kits, free emergency laundry services, and CRS-branded support kits for families displaced by a fire. It’s a great way to help people during a hard time — and show the community what CRS is about.

Above all: meet homeowners where they are, show them you care, and lead with compassion. How we approach people after a loss matters just as much as the service we provide.

Your Resources

Two guides are attached below to help you put this into practice:

The Simple Rule

During the first two weeks, pursue the opportunity. After the contents have been removed, pursue the relationship.

Not every alert becomes a CRS job — and that’s okay. A new restoration relationship, adjuster connection, or claims contact can be just as valuable down the road.

What to Do Now

Review the attached resources, start strengthening your local connections, and be ready to act when alerts become available.

More information, reports, and alerts are coming soon.
