Get Your Xactimate Macros Set Up in Under 30 Minutes
New to Xactimate? Macros save you time. They let you add a whole set of line items to an estimate in one click.
We built a starter file with the four macros most jobs need: Packout, Cleaning, Storage, and Packback. Download it, import it, and set it up once. After that, the macros are ready for every estimate.
Download the file: [New_owner_macros.ESX] (link to be added)
Step 1: Import the file into Xactimate
- Save the .ESX file to your desktop.
- Open Xactimate in your browser and go to your Projects list.
- Drag the file from your desktop and drop it onto the project list.
- A box says “Importing projects.” Click Close.
- Wait for the notification, then reload the page. The new project will show up in your list.
Step 2: Set your pricing
Macros use your local prices. Set these before you save anything.
- Open the NEW_MACRO project.
- Click the Parameters tab.
- Click the list icon next to Price List and choose the one for your area. Click Done.
- Click the list icon next to Tax Jurisdiction and choose the one that fits your area. Click Done.
- Click Reprice. In the box that opens, click OK.
- Review the Reprice Summary and click OK.
Step 3: Save the four macros
- Click Estimate, then Estimate Items.
- On the left, click the Packout group.
- Select all of the items in that group.
- Click Save Macro.
- Enter a code (for example, NEWPACK) and a description (Packout). Click OK.
- Repeat steps 2–5 for Cleaning (NEWCLEAN), Storage (NEWSTOR), and Packback (NEWPBACK).
- Click Save and Exit.
That’s it. Your macros are saved to your account and ready to use.
